Air Zimbabwe, the national career of Zimbabwe, was officially established on 1st September 1967. The company is the member of IATA(International Air transport Association) and African Airlines Association. The Rainbow Club is Air Zimbabwe\'s frequent-flyer programme. It offers personal and corporate accounts. Air Zimbabwe is currently operating many international and domestic flights. A capacity boost was disclosed to occur on the Harare-London-Gatwick route effective 1 April 2011. The Harare-London route was once served by both British Airways and Air Zimbabwe, it has become one of the most lucrative routes for Air Zimbabwe since British Airways discontinued the service in 2007.
Air Zimbabwe Fleet
Air Zimbabwe is operating its flights with a small fleet of advanced aircraft. The present fleet of Air Zimbabwe contains a total of 7 aircraft. With 3 Boeing 737-200 Advanced, 2 Boeing 767-200ER and 2 Xian MA60 Air Zimbabwe is operating all domestic, regional and international flights. The Boeing 737s are used mainly on short haul and regional routes. The Boeing 767s are used on international routes especially for the direct flights from Harare to London or for the other long haul flights. The 3 Xian are used only for domestic routes. This statistics of Air Zimbabwe fleet is for since July 2011.
In August 2011, it was disclosed that Air Zimbabwe bought two new Airbuses, Airbus A340-500 and Airbus A320.
