Air Zimbabwe Strike by Pilots Continues

Air Zimbabwe strike is still on which grounded Air Zimbabwe flights for various destinations from the Harare international Airport. This time pilots have announced their strike against the government airline due to the non-payment of their wages and salaries. Air Zimbabwe which operates flights within Zimbabwe as well as various international destinations like Johannesburg, London and Beijing is on strike by its pilots who are demanding for their unpaid dues by the airline. The airline has not paid the dues of pilots for the months of June and July. In a report it is said that the airline has to pay the pilot dues of about 9 million US dollars which it is currently unable to pay.
Because of this recent strike, Air Zimbabwe has cancelled its flights to some of the destinations. Air Zimbabwe acting chief executive officer, Moses Mapanda, told The Zimbabwe Guardian on Friday, 29th July, that negotiations with the pilots were underway but until the issue is resolved there would be no air services. The Air Zimbabwe cancelled flights which include flights from Harare to London on Fridays and flights from London to Harare on Saturdays. These cancelled flights of Air Zimbabwe will no more operate from 1st August to the end of December 2011. These flights have been shifted to Sundays or either Wednesday as well for the flights of Harare-London and London-Harare respectively.
