Air Zimbabwe Flights to Resume After Long Strike
28 Sep 2011: Air Zimbabwe, after a long time strike by pilots on the non-payment of their debts, is recovering its flights to normal operations and has resumed some of the flights to attract the passengers and gain their confidence.
The national airline used to fly Johannesburg twice daily. Currently, it is flying into South Africa four times a week. Innocent Mavhunga, the acting group chief executive officer of Air Zimbabwe said it would take over six months for the airline to restore confidence among passengers.
New Air Zimbwbe Flights Schedule: Flights have been resumed cautiously to attract the passengers. Flights to London, China, Johannesburg (South Africa), Lusaka (Zambia) and Lumbumbashi (Congo) have been resumed.
Domestic flights to Bulawayo (two ties a day) and Victoria Falls (four times a week) are also working.
Mavhunga in an interview said, "We cannot deploy all schedules at once as the planes will fly without passengers. We are building on confidence and we hope to service all our flight schedules by end of October"
